Glove size depends on the player's age and position more than anything else. Pick a position and age to get the right size in inches — and remember a right-handed thrower wears the glove on the left hand.
How to measure a glove
Fielding gloves are measured from the heel to the tip of the index finger. That length is usually stamped on the thumb or pinky.
Break-in basics
Play catch with it — repetition is the best break-in. Work a small amount of glove conditioner into the pocket, shape the pocket with a ball tied inside overnight, and avoid microwaves, ovens, or soaking, which dry out and crack the leather. A fuller how-to lives in the glove break-in guide.
