Fielding Percentage Calculator
Fielding percentage is the share of a fielder's chances handled cleanly — putouts and assists over total chances including errors.
How it works
Fielding percentage = (putouts + assists) ÷ (putouts + assists + errors). A putout is recording an out directly; an assist is a throw that leads to an out. Errors are the only way the number drops.
Worked example
A shortstop with 150 putouts, 45 assists, and 5 errors handled (150 + 45) of (150 + 45 + 5) = 195 ÷ 200 = .975.
